Depart Kampala and drive northwards along the Kampala- Gulu highway through the undulating and sometimes flat landscape of Luwero and Nakasongola Districts. Stop over at Kabalega Diners on the highway for lunch.After lunch, proceed through Kafu River which is the divide between Kampala and the great North. A quick stop over shows you the enterprising young people selling road side fresh barbeque and carefully roasted cassava that remains white even when ready to eat. Arrive at Murchison Falls National Park and check in at Fort Murchison. After a mid-afternoon relaxation, you can opt for an evening game drive. The evening is a relaxed day for a fire place and seeing the African sun set as you welcome the moon in the horizon.
Commence the day with an early morning breakfast against the backdrop of the glorious African sun! Embark on a memorable game drive where you will see, Rothschild giraffe, buffaloes, hartebeest, Uganda Kob and warthogs among others in the open savannah plains.After lunch, embark on a boat cruise down to the base of the Murchison Falls where you will trek to the top of the falls. This is the highlight of your visit to Murchison which comes with the most dramatic view of the waterfalls- Top of Falls where the sight and sound of the Nile crashing down the falls makes an everlasting impression. Enroute you will encounter wildlife (hippos, crocodiles etc and other bird species) coming down to drink and bathe.
An early rise will usher you the great African sun lighting up the savannah plains. After breakfast, you will then begin the trails through Kaniyo Pabidi forest which will give you the opportunity to track chimpanzee and other primates. The forest is a magnificent virgin forest containing both mahogany and ironwood trees where about six chimp groups have been habituated.You will have chance to see the largest existing mahogany tree. For the bird lovers, the bird life is simply spectacular. Due to the diversity in habitats, the tick list reaches over 450 species with the shoebill stork remaining a favorite for many. You could chance on some rare species like yellow-footed flycatcher, white thin hornbill and ituri batis.
