Safari Itinerary

On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed and transferred to your first hotel for check-in. Your afternoon will be spent at your leisure, and you will get settled into the Kigali Serena Hotel.

After breakfast, the morning is yours to enjoy as you explore the city exploring The Kigali Genocide Memorial Center, Inema arts centre & Inzuki designs. Lunch will be at the Khana Kazana Heaven Restaurant.

After lunch, we will embark on a leisurely drive to Musanze and Volcanoes National Park. Arrive in the evening and check in at Bisate Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

At the nearby park HQ, meet your ranger-guide team before heading into the forest for your encounter with a habituated family group. Watch as young ones play and roll through the undergrowth, mothers delicately eat bamboo and adolescent males show off. A proud silverback is always an impressive sight, especially so when you're on foot in their home. An awe-inspiring wildlife experience.

This national park provides a dramatic setting where rare mountain gorillas and golden monkeys reside.

After this memorable experience, you will return to the lodge for lunch and some much-needed rest. Optional, boat ride on Lake Ruhondo or do the Dianne Fossey Tomb hike. Dinner and overnight stay at Bisate Lodge.

Another early breakfast then transfers to the park headquarters for briefs before you start your guided Golden Monkey Trek.

Trekking to see the golden monkeys is another highlight of Volcanoes National Park. The Golden Monkey (CercopithecusMitisKandti) is a local subspecies of the widespread Sykes Monkey, also known as the “Blue Monkey” and is endemic to the high altitude forests. The monkeys are playful and inquisitive and often spend their time leaping from bamboo branches or frolicking on the forest floor. There are two habituated groups of Golden Monkeys, one group comprises around 80 - 100 members and has its home at the foot of Mt Sabyinyo.

This afternoon you will Drive To Nyungwe House Check in, dinner and overnight stay at your hotel.

Breakfast at the lodge and relax. Then transfer to the airstrip for your scenic helicopter flight to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Land at the One & Only Nyungwe House helipad. You will be met by the resort staff and guided to the reception. Assisted with check-in, followed by a sumptuous hot lunch.

In the afternoon you will have complimentary brochure activities at the lodge i.e. spear throwing, cycling, natures boot camp, nature walks etc

After Breakfast, you will head into the forest with your guides for yet a memorable experience. The waterfall trail starts by the lodge and descends into the forest proper, following flat contour paths through a succession of tree-fern-covered ravines, and crossing several streams, before a sharp descent to the base of the pretty but small waterfall. It takes four hours to cover as a round trip, depending on how often you stop. After lunch, you will have a guided tour of the Gisakura Tea plantation and factory. Tea is Rwanda’s largest export, and you can see it in the landscape. Tea leaves cover the mountains and give a dark green contrast to the blue skies, dirt roads and sunshine

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Day 5: Helicopter Transfer to Nyungwe

Rise very early, have breakfast at the resort and be transferred to the park offices for briefing before your guided trek. You will enter the forest when it's dark, but you will be able to see primate species such as Colobus Monkeys, and Forest Birds; later, you will be able to see the Chimpanzees when it's already daytime. After the chimpanzee trekking, you will be embarking on the Canopy Walkway. The Canopy walkway consists of three bridges and three towers and the total length of the walkway is 160m. The walkway is embedded in a guided tour along Igishigishigi Trail. Taking this tour, a specialized Park Guide will not only show you the forest canopy as well as explain why it is an integral part of the tropical rainforest ecosystem.

Day 7: Waterfall Hike & visit Gisakura Tea Factory and Ceremony

Enjoy your morning hours relaxed at the lodge. Later at mid-morning you’ll head to the lodge helipad for your helicopter ride to the capital. Our driver guide will be waiting for you in Kigali. You will be transferred to the hotel for lunch before heading out to the city to visit some craft centres for viewing and buying souvenirs, that is, Kaplaki, Gahaya Links, House of Tayo etc.

Later proceed to Kigali International Airport, and bid farewell.
